Skillogalee was established by the George family in 1970. Dave and Diana Palmer purchased it in 1989, turning it and the winery restaurant they opened into a Clare Valley fixture. In 2021 they sold it on to tech tycoon Simon Clausen.
Skillogalee source fruit exclusively from their Clare Valley vineyards. At almost 500 metres above sea level, the vine rows follow the contours of steep, eastern facing slopes in shallow, stony soils. The vineyard produces low yields of intensely flavoured fruit. Plantings of the Clare Valley's most notable varieties Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon predominate. Skillogalee's approach is centred on sustainable and small batch winemaking.
Skillogalee is known for its crisp dry whites and rich, full bodied reds. Their leading Trevarrick Single Contour wines are made only when the fruit quality and varietal character is exceptional.
